“The Body Double” rating 4.5 Kisses:

At eighteen Delilah believed there could be no other for her but Robby Graham. But her ambitions of becoming an actress took her from him for five years until she returned home for her parents’ anniversary. On the plane ride home, the last person she expected to see was the man she’d left behind, her soul mate.

Robby Graham had been in love with the unobtainable Delilah for as long as he could remember.  After seeing her again five years later on a plane destined for their home town, he found he still wanted her.  Had to have her no matter if they were 35,000 feet in the air.  But Robby wanted more from her than just the spot in the mile high club.  He wanted her forever.

Could Delilah give up her dream of becoming a renowned actress and settle for an ordinary life with Robby?

Harris Channing wasted no time getting right to the nitty gritty with these two characters, making them members of the mile high club within moments of their departure.  Mid air hot sex aside, even after 5 years apart, Delilah still holds back from exploring a relationship with Robby, who is successful in his own right.  Her dream has yet to be accomplished and is still a work in progress.  However, if that means losing Robby again in her pursuit of the happiness she still wants to attain, she needs to decide what’s worth more - a career that’s not all it’s cracked up to be or probably ever will be, or Robby.  All I can say is WOW, be still my heart!  This story will have you grabbing a glass of ice-water almost within the first few pages.  The only thing I found lacking was more background dialogue of the two characters.  Even still, it will endear you to their redeeming qualities and leave you with a sigh!  Although this is a rather new author, she hit the publishing scene with aplomb!  I look forward to reading more from her as I’m sure you will too!

“The Groupie” rating 5 Kisses:

Mandy Evans wakes up one morning thinking it was “just another day” until she wins tickets to see her idol, country music crooner Thad Curtis.  She’d only wanted to meet him, not anticipating anything else, that is until she was secluded in his hotel room.  Not being one for “one night stands” previously, Mandy decides to let her inhibitions go for one night of passion with her favorite country music star and leave with a nice memory.

Thad Curtis was doing yet one more concert for another group of fans, and meets with yet another of what he and others refer to as a groupie - one who’d won a backstage pass in addition to concert tickets.  Initially he’d treated her with disdain like all past groupies who are only interested in his talent and not the man beneath.  He warned her that she’d mean nothing to him after he slept with her.

Another winner by Harris Channing! I loved how Mandy stood up to a man who didn’t appreciate everything he’d come to achieve in such a short time in his career.  It was refreshing how just a few words of advice from her could change Thad's point of view on what he’d been living with up until he met her.  Mandy made him see the possibility that she could come to mean more to him if only he'd just let go of his insecurities.  Bravo!

Torrid Teasers Vol. 30: The Body Double and The Groupie is written by debut author Harris Channing. In The Body Double, a re-united romance from high school brings together Delilah and Robby. Wanting a career in acting, Delilah ends her high school love and takes off to California to also leave a relationship she feared to commit to. Being a body double in sensual scenes in movies and television, Delilah fears she will never reach the heights of being an actress. While flying home to attend a party for her parents anniversary, Delilah finds Robby in first class and the intensity of their being away so long, is fueled sizzling at first sight. With Delilah still wishing to have her opportunity to have an acting career and Robby, hopes of both may not be guaranteed.

Author Harris Channing re-kindles a romance with so much emotion with the characters of Delilah and Robby, that the reader will be longing for Delilah to turn to love and Robby to know she's worth the wait. In this short space of a story, the author wraps up a beautiful and heightened sensual reunion that promises a great romance.

Te second story of this Torrid Teasers edition, The Groupie is about Mandy Evans who loves music and has erotic dreams of singer Thad Curtis. When winning tickets to his concert and a back stage pass, Thad desires to indulge his instant attraction to Mandy. As Mandy too decides to take the meeting further into a weekend of fierce sex, Mandy gets to see Thad as a person she wants to know more about him. With misunderstandings taking over of not communicating their feelings, they may be on a road alone.

Once again, author Harris Channing brings a passionate romance story to the reader. As Mandy and Thad's scenes rise to insatiable heights, the feelings of each other grow even further and the reader will be clinging to each word and emotion the author brings out of the characters.

Torrid Teasers Vol. 30: The Body Double and The Groupie are two burning romances that will definitely pull the reader into the stories and have them looking forward to more from Harris Channing.

The Body Double

Delilah James wants to become a movie star. So far all she has done is body double in love scenes. Being tired and discouraged she is heading home after 5 years to be with her parents on their 30th anniversary. While on the plane trip home she gets unwanted attention from an obnoxious passenger and attempts to change seats only to find that the
plane is full. A sympathetic steward asks the passenger that booked all of first class section if he can move her to 1st calls. The steward lets her know as long as she stays quiet she can relocate to 1st class.

Wishing to thank the generous passenger she finds herself face to face with her high school sweetheart, Robby. Upon landing an argument soon ensues about her leaving him to pursue a career in LA. Dee drives home to her parent's house and realizes how much she misses home. On the night of her parent's party Dee has a little too much to drink and confronts Robby once again. After waiting five years Robby tells her to let him go so he can get on with his life. She can't bring herself to let him go. She goes home and does some thinking to determine what is really important in her life, her career or Robby.

The Groupie

Mandy is in the middle of a great dream when her alarm clock wakes her up. As she is listening to the radio it is announced that listeners can call in and have a chance to win a CD and concert tickets to Thad Curtis, her favorite singer. Just when she is about to give in and hang up she wins. This is the start of an adventure for her. She gets to do a meet and greet with Thad. They hit it off and he invites her to go out after the concert. They have a great evening and she accompanies him to his hotel room. After their night together, Thad invites Mandy to spend the weekend together. What starts out as a great weekend goes downhill quickly after a misunderstanding with Thad. Mandy decides to leave. When she gets home she finds she is needed at work on Saturday to handle a major office crisis. She gets to the office and is able to divert the crisis, her unappreciative boss verbally attacks her which turns into an argument that results in her getting fired. She gathers up her belongings and she goes home. Shortly there after Thad shows up to talk to her. Thad asks her to give them a chance to see where their relationship might lead.

Both of the stories are great. Both are short stories but really packs an emotional punch. I really enjoyed them. They are hard to put down and is easy to read in one sitting.

Reviews for SPEED TRAP

Speed Trap

When Libby met Keith Davidson he’d pulled her over for speeding. No insurance, her wallet missing, and going fast doesn’t endear her to Officer Davidson. As he starts to arrest her, the story comes out why she’s on the run from her ex-boyfriend, Leon. Libby can’t believe these feelings that come rushing through her when she spends time with Keith. He’s such a nice guy helping her out. Only with Leon after her, Libby doesn’t know if she’ll be able to stay around White Springs long enough to see if things can progress between her and Keith.

After hearing her story and knowing she can’t go anywhere, Keith invites Libby to his house for dinner. Feeling like he’s alive again, he wants her to stay. When his dog, Elvis, is hurt, Keith realizes that he has to protect Libby. How can he do that if she runs again? He knows he has to talk to her not only about his wife, but about Leon also. Things heat up fast between Keith and Libby. Is he ready to deal with it or will Libby leave in order to save herself and her heart?

Speed Trap is a short story that packs a lot of emotion in its pages. When Ms. Channing named this book, she gave it the perfect name. It’s fast paced and grabs the reader with a tale of two people who need and want each other and have to find a way to overcome the obstacles in their way. I really enjoyed reading this book watching how these two, Libby and Keith, grow and learn how to handle their feelings and problems. Ms. Channing has such a way with words that the reader sees the story unfolding in their mind as they’re reading the words on the pages.

Libby Collins is running from an abusive relationship. The reason she decides to run is Dwayne, her ex, is the brother of the local sheriff. After Dwayne breaks in and tries to rape her she takes of and is running 90 to nothing when she’s stopped doing 80 mph through White Springs, Tennessee. Luckily for her the cop that stops her believes her and is willing to help. She is also unbearably attracted to this knight in shinning armor.

Keith Davidson a local cop can’t resist the urge to protect and shelter Libby. He is still trying to recover from the loss of his wife 5 yrs ago, and Libby makes him feel alive. The problem is convincing Libby that he really wants her to stay around. He also has to deal with the guilt of finding someone other than his wife. When Dwayne comes around threatening Libby there’s no way he’s going to stand aside.

Speed Trap was a wonderful book that I will more than likely be reading again. It’s a tale of a love that few of us get to know or see. Libby and Keith show great growth as people and a couple. The loves scenes are steamy and believable. Harris Channing created very rich and believable characters with challenges that many face. I love the way that Libby is determined to stand on her own two feet and not give in. She is a fighter.
