“The Body Double” rating 4.5 Kisses: At eighteen Delilah believed there could be no other for her but Robby Graham. But her ambitions of becoming an actress took her from him for five years until she returned home for her parents’ anniversary. On the plane ride home, the last person she expected to see was the man she’d left behind, her soul mate. Robby Graham had been in love with the unobtainable Delilah for as long as he could remember. After seeing her again five years later on a plane destined for their home town, he found he still wanted her. Had to have her no matter if they were 35,000 feet in the air. But Robby wanted more from her than just the spot in the mile high club. He wanted her forever. Could Delilah give up her dream of becoming a renowned actress and settle for an ordinary life with Robby? Harris Channing wasted no time getting right to the nitty gritty with these two characters, making them members of the mile high club within moments of their departure. Mid air hot sex aside, even after 5 years apart, Delilah still holds back from exploring a relationship with Robby, who is successful in his own right. Her dream has yet to be accomplished and is still a work in progress. However, if that means losing Robby again in her pursuit of the happiness she still wants to attain, she needs to decide what’s worth more - a career that’s not all it’s cracked up to be or probably ever will be, or Robby. All I can say is WOW, be still my heart! This story will have you grabbing a glass of ice-water almost within the first few pages. The only thing I found lacking was more background dialogue of the two characters. Even still, it will endear you to their redeeming qualities and leave you with a sigh! Although this is a rather new author, she hit the publishing scene with aplomb! I look forward to reading more from her as I’m sure you will too! “The Groupie” rating 5 Kisses: Mandy Evans wakes up one morning thinking it was “just another day” until she wins tickets to see her idol, country music crooner Thad Curtis. She’d only wanted to meet him, not anticipating anything else, that is until she was secluded in his hotel room. Not being one for “one night stands” previously, Mandy decides to let her inhibitions go for one night of passion with her favorite country music star and leave with a nice memory. Thad Curtis was doing yet one more concert for another group of fans, and meets with yet another of what he and others refer to as a groupie - one who’d won a backstage pass in addition to concert tickets. Initially he’d treated her with disdain like all past groupies who are only interested in his talent and not the man beneath. He warned her that she’d mean nothing to him after he slept with her. Another winner by Harris Channing! I loved how Mandy stood up to a man who didn’t appreciate everything he’d come to achieve in such a short time in his career. It was refreshing how just a few words of advice from her could change Thad's point of view on what he’d been living with up until he met her. Mandy made him see the possibility that she could come to mean more to him if only he'd just let go of his insecurities. Bravo! | ||||||||||||
plane is full. A sympathetic steward asks the passenger that booked all of first class section if he can move her to 1st calls. The steward lets her know as long as she stays quiet she can relocate to 1st class.
Both of the stories are great. Both are short stories but really packs an emotional punch. I really enjoyed them. They are hard to put down and is easy to read in one sitting.

When Libby met Keith Davidson he’d pulled her over for speeding. No insurance, her wallet missing, and going fast doesn’t endear her to Officer Davidson. As he starts to arrest her, the story comes out why she’s on the run from her ex-boyfriend, Leon. Libby can’t believe these feelings that come rushing through her when she spends time with Keith. He’s such a nice guy helping her out. Only with Leon after her, Libby doesn’t know if she’ll be able to stay around White Springs long enough to see if things can progress between her and Keith.
After hearing her story and knowing she can’t go anywhere, Keith invites Libby to his house for dinner. Feeling like he’s alive again, he wants her to stay. When his dog, Elvis, is hurt, Keith realizes that he has to protect Libby. How can he do that if she runs again? He knows he has to talk to her not only about his wife, but about Leon also. Things heat up fast between Keith and Libby. Is he ready to deal with it or will Libby leave in order to save herself and her heart?
Speed Trap is a short story that packs a lot of emotion in its pages. When Ms. Channing named this book, she gave it the perfect name. It’s fast paced and grabs the reader with a tale of two people who need and want each other and have to find a way to overcome the obstacles in their way. I really enjoyed reading this book watching how these two, Libby and Keith, grow and learn how to handle their feelings and problems. Ms. Channing has such a way with words that the reader sees the story unfolding in their mind as they’re reading the words on the pages.
